On Friday 2nd October 2020, Mark Shelford visited Burnham-On-Sea, in the Wells Constituency to discuss with the local MP the need for review as to how the Police deal with illegal encampments.
Conservative Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) Candidate, Mark Shelford, was in North-East Somerset last week to talk to local people about the crime challenges being faced in the area. He held talks with Jacob Rees-Mogg MP, as well as meeting residents in Keynsham.
"Delighted to visit St Marks Road, talking to residents and businesses concerned over safety and the plans for pedestrianisation.
The Council must be careful that the unintended consequences of these plans don’t damage the recovering businesses and reduce road safety in the area."
"Great afternoon on Thursday, meeting residents in Portishead to discuss Police and Crime issues locally. I have noted the concerns raised over the lack of separation of shared paths specifically at road junctions and blind corners - I will look into developing joint solutions."
Mark Shelford has welcomed the announcement that Avon & Somerset will receive £400,000 in extra funding as part of the Government’s £25 million Safer Streets Fund – delivering on a key Conservative manifesto commitment.
